It is time again for CAS checks! All IB juniors must see me today or tomorrow after school for the end of year CAS meeting. I will be reviewing your CAS book and returning it, asking you about summer plans, and about your Bright Futures/CAS project. The meeting will be brief, but keep your afternoon clear as there will be a long line of juniors to see me. These checks are mandatory to ensure that you are making adequate progress with your CAS activities and to prevent problems next year.
See you in 523!
Attention, all juniors in the AP U.S. History course!
There is an opportunity coming up tomorrow evening for extra credit. The Museum of Florida History is hosting a special program tomorrow night to introduce their temporary exhibit, “Ships, Sailors, and Shipwrecks of Civil War Florida.” Dr. Keith V. Holland will be delivering a talk on the discovery of the Civil War transport ship Maple Leaf, which sank upon hitting a Confederate mine in the St. John’s River in 1864. The museum will be open from 5 to 8pm, with the program beginning at 7. See the Museum of Florida History web page for details.
Check in with me following the talk to qualify for extra credit. See you there!
I have had several queries as to where to find our school’s CAS documents. You will find the CAS hour logs, reflection sheets, and supervisor evaluation forms on the IB web site for James S. Rickards High School. Here is a link to the documents you will need: http://www.rickards.leon.k12.fl.us/IB/CAS%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx.
The window is now open for submission of CAS binders. You may submit your portfolios any time between today and Friday at 2:30pm. Your binder will be returned at your CAS meeting next week. I have already seen several good and comprehensive CAS binders in progress.
IB History Seniors (HL)!
I will be at the RedEye coffeehouse on Saturday May 12 from about 2:00pm to 4:30pm. I will gladly entertain questions you have concerning Paper 3 on Monday. Some students mentioned that they did not know the location of the RedEye, so here are some directions:
See you tomorrow!
I will be at the RedEye coffee shop from 9:30am to 12:30pm tomorrow, Saturday, May 5. Please come by if you have last minute questions or want to review for the upcoming history exams.
As indicated on the original fourth nine weeks’ schedule, Tuesday, May 8 will be the final day to make up the Mock Paper 1 and 2 tests. Also remember that I will accept your submission of topics from AP European History that helped you with the IB history exam as extra credit (due May 18.)
