Seniors, this is a reminder that the CAS portfolios are due Friday by 2:30. I am not accepting late portfolios.

I have uploaded the Emergence of the Americas in Global Affairs term list and review questions on the IB History of the Americas course web site. New textbooks will be issued tomorrow. There are three, so be ready to do some carrying.
Students in my AP United States history course have an opportunity to earn extra credit this week. There will be a presentation about the Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca on Thursday, 21 February, at the Museum of Florida History. The presentation is free and will begin at 7:00 pm. These talks are usually in the theater downstairs, past the front desk and across from the large armadillo. I remember the last one I was at being standing room only, so be early. The event itself, including live music and food (not free), begins at 5:00 pm.
For fifteen points extra credit, you will need to attend the entire presentation, check in with me afterward, and write a one page summary of the information presented in the talk.
Information about the event can be found on the Museum of Florida History website: http://www.museumoffloridahistory.com/thirdthursday/
There is a great CAS opportunity coming up on Saturday, 2 March. Volunteers will be needed for the Super Clean Sweep in the Apalachicola National Forest, starting at 8:00 am. See me for details if you are interested.
…now can I have my books back?
I have updated the instructions for submission of the senior Internal Assessment, after a student pointed out a discrepancy between what was said in class versus what was on the paper. The IA is due by 7:30 am tomorrow morning!
I have uploaded instructions for submitting the final IA draft and the new term list, review questions, and essay test questions on the IB History of the Americas class website. The homework is labeled “End of the Cold War Term List, Review Questions, and Essay Questions.”
