Extra Credit Opportunity for AP US History

Students in my AP United States history course have an opportunity to earn extra credit this week. There will be a presentation about the Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca on Thursday, 21 February, at the Museum of Florida History. The presentation is free and will begin at 7:00 pm. These talks are usually in the theater downstairs, past the front desk and across from the large armadillo. I remember the last one I was at being standing room only, so be early. The event itself, including live music and food (not free), begins at 5:00 pm.

For fifteen points extra credit, you will need to attend the entire presentation, check in with me afterward, and write a one page summary of the information presented in the talk.

Information about the event can be found on the Museum of Florida History website: http://www.museumoffloridahistory.com/thirdthursday/

Senior Draft CAS Portfolios are Ready!

Mrs. Kraft and I have finished reviewing the senior draft CAS portfolios. You may pick them up in my classroom immediately.

The final deadline for the CAS portfolio is 1 March, at no later than 2:30. I have notified all of the activity sponsors and supervisors that you are aware of this deadline, and that there is no excuse for procrastination in submitting your supervisor evaluation forms to them to complete and sign. Supervisors are under no obligation to make themselves available more than would be usual at the end of February or on March 1 because you have delayed completing this necessary task.

Mrs. Kraft and I are expecting complete CAS portfolios from the entire senior class by 1 March. That is all.
